## Description

The Žilina Literary Festival is an annual cultural event that brings writers, readers and the wider community together in the historic New Synagogue in Žilina, Slovakia. Held each September, the festival transforms the venue into a lively meeting place for literature, discussion, music, workshops and activities for children and adults. Its programme includes author talks, panel discussions, concerts, theatre, film and a book market featuring publishers and booksellers. The 2026 edition, running from September 17 to 20, is the festival’s 23rd and is presented under the theme “Now Is the Time!” Its events explore current social and cultural issues, history, identity, technology and the role of regional cultural institutions. The festival also offers dedicated opportunities for students, families and young readers, including a student journalism competition and children’s workshops. Visitors can attend individual discussions or purchase passes for one or two days. Alongside its annual programme, the festival’s website provides information about guests, partners, galleries and archives of past editions, documenting the event’s ongoing cultural activity.
