## Description

Zonguldak Culture and Education Foundation (ZOKEV) is a nonprofit organization based in Zonguldak, Türkiye, dedicated to democracy, scientific thought, and the city’s cultural and educational life. Founded to uphold the principles of secularism, national sovereignty, and contemporary living, the foundation works to foster a democratic culture that rejects fanaticism, discrimination, chauvinism, and violence. It views democracy as extending beyond politics into cultural, artistic, scientific, educational, social, and economic life, and develops activities that reflect this broad perspective.

ZOKEV brings the community together through public talks, author and book discussions, panels, symposiums, exhibitions, and cultural events. Its programming explores local history, mining and labor, education, literature, and issues affecting the city and country. The foundation also publishes books, the Altıyedi magazine, and bulletins, and presents annual science, culture, and education awards recognizing contributions to Zonguldak. Through these initiatives, ZOKEV supports writers, artists, educators, researchers, and civic participation while helping preserve the region’s cultural memory and encourage informed public debate.
