PayPal rebrands with a more elevated and unified visual identity

The fintech company unveiled a new visual and even sonic identity.

According to agency, Gretel NY, the rebrand is to “elevate and unify their global identity spanning visual, verbal, and sonic components. Underpinning the work is a renewed set of principles and a rallying brand purpose to champion possibilities for everybody.”

An American financial technology company, PayPal was established in 1998 as Confinity but then rebranded as PayPal later on. The company is currently headquartered in San Jose, California with its operations center based in La Vista, Nebraska. It is currently ranked #143 on the Fortune 500 list in 2022.

PayPal is most known for having an online payment system for several countries worldwide, specifically countries that accept online money transfers. The company became a subsidiary of eBay back in 2002 but became an independent fin-tech company again in 2015. The online payment system has over 325 million users and is most used by vendors, specifically for goods and services.

Though it has a payment processing system specifically for businesses, PayPal can also be used by customers to transfer or send money to other PayPal users. It also introduced a “One Touch” payment system to participating businesses, which allows users to pay directly to merchants with their PayPal balance. The company has a revenue of $25.4 billion as of 2021.
