Peter's core interest in the hobby lies in HF contesting and satellite operating. He actively participates in contest groups such as Cray Valley Radio Society (M8C), Paul G6PZ's station, and the Vulture Squadron Contest Group (G9V). As an advocate for AMSAT, Peter promotes the satellite element of amateur radio and has been a committee member since 2018.


Peter has also made significant contributions to the amateur radio community, including being jointly awarded the Kenwood Trophy for creating the well-respected training tool, HamTests. He has received several awards and holds certificates for multiple past and present UK Records in contesting. In addition to his involvement in amateur radio, Peter runs various web-based projects, including a DX Cluster and a UK APRS-IS T2London server.


As a member of various organizations such as Grampian Hilltoppers, Radio Society of Great Britain, and AMSAT UK, Peter is well-connected within the amateur radio community. He is also affiliated with worldwide groups like Worldwide Young Contesters, European PSK Club, Digital QSO Club, FieldHell Club, Digital Modes Club, and BARTG.
