Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP) is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 1972, dedicated to making life better for the community. ACAP offers a wide range of programs and services to address emerging human needs. These include Prevention and Wellness, Early Care and Education, Energy and Housing, and Workforce Development.


ACAP's mission is to lead or collaborate in providing services that support, empower, and improve lives in Aroostook County. ACAP is part of a larger network of Community Action Agencies across the country, established by President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1964.


The agency receives federal and state funds in the form of grants, which are leveraged with additional funds from government grants, foundations, and private donors. ACAP is grateful for the support from individuals, families, and local businesses. ACAP has multiple office locations throughout the county, serving the needs of the community.
