About
Description
AFRUCA, formerly known as Africans Unite Against Child Abuse, is a UK-based charity that focuses on safeguarding the rights and welfare of African children. Established in 2001, AFRUCA operates with the aim of promoting the well-being and protection of children and families within black and ethnic communities across the UK. With a cultural-competence approach, AFRUCA offers a range of prevention and early intervention services that specifically address child abuse related to cultural practices, child trafficking, modern slavery, and exploitation.
They work tirelessly to ensure that children are safe and protected from these harmful practices. In addition, AFRUCA collaborates with other organizations through their network called The UK BME Anti-Slavery Network (BASNET) to influence equality, diversity, and inclusion in modern slavery policy, research, and practices. Operating from their locations in London and Manchester, AFRUCA is guided by the principles set forth in the 1989 UN Convention on the Rights of The Child and various UK Child Protection legislations.
They are dedicated to promoting the best interests of children and strive to create a better future for them
