About
Description
The American Postal Workers Union (APWU) is a dynamic organization representing over 200,000 employees and retirees of the United States Postal Service (USPS), along with nearly 2,000 private-sector mail workers. With a history spanning for more than four decades, the APWU has been tirelessly advocating for the rights and well-being of workers across various divisions, such as the Clerk, Maintenance, Motor Vehicle Service (MVS), and Support Services. As an affiliate of the AFL-CIO, the APWU stands in solidarity with the ongoing struggle for social and economic justice for all working families.
Comprised of dedicated dues-paying members, the APWU consists of more than 900 state and local unions and retiree chapters across every state and territory. Its democratic structure ensures that officers are elected directly by union members. Autonomous state and local affiliates collaborate with the national union in collective bargaining negotiations and national-level grievances.
Headquartered in Washington, DC, the APWU plays a pivotal role in negotiating national agreements and advocating for the interests of its members on Capitol Hill. In addition to its core activities, the union maintains Retiree and Auxiliary chapters that enable former postal workers and their families to remain engaged in union affairs. For those looking to connect with the APWU, correspondence can be directed to: American Postal Workers Union 1300 L Street NW Washington DC 20005 To contact national officers and staff located at the Headquarters, you can reach them at 202-842-4200
