Founded in November 2018 by Guido Peterssen, José Luis Hevia, and Mario Piattini, aQuantum began as a small working group with a focus on advancing the study of quantum computing and exploring the possibilities in the fields of Quantum Software Engineering and Development. In February 2019, aQuantum became an R&D group specialized in research, development, consulting, and services related to Quantum Software Engineering and Development. In November 2020, aQuantum signed a collaboration agreement with QST, a company specializing in industry-ready hybrid quantum/classical software systems.

This partnership has enabled aQuantum to take its growth to the next level, leading to the rebranding of the company as aQuantum Software Engineering®. Today, aQuantum is a provider of industry-ready hybrid classical/quantum software services. They offer a range of services, including hybrid software solutions, mentoring, QPath subscriptions, consultancy, product subscriptions, and R&D.

In October 2021, aQuantum proudly introduced QuantumPath® to the public, the first quantum software development platform for the hybrid solutions ecosystem. In January 2022, they expanded their offerings by launching QuantumPath® on Amazon Braket.
