Bear Island Brewing is a veteran-owned and operated brewery located in Boise, Idaho. The name Bear Island holds a special significance for the brewery, as it is derived from a heartwarming family story. In Cascade, Idaho, the Westover family would spend time at their future cabin site, and to ease their children's fear of bears, they would explain that during winter, all the bears would hibernate on Bear Island in the middle of the frozen Cascade Reservoir. This story became an endearing part of their family history and inspired the name of their brewery.
