The Bakersfield Firefighters Historical Society is dedicated to teaching and preserving the rich history of the Bakersfield Fire Department. With over 140 years of firefighter history, their mission is to ensure that the past is remembered in order to protect the future. Their future plans include the establishment of a comprehensive museum, restaurant, event center, safety center, and a 9-11 Learning Center.

The museum will house and showcase historical artifacts and equipment, allowing visitors to take a walk through time and witness the evolution of the fire service. Visitors will be able to explore different zones that represent different eras of equipment and apparatus, offering an immersive experience. The society is actively organizing fundraisers, with a goal of raising $2,500,000 for the completion of Phase One of the BFD Museum.
