The brand's story started with the owner/director, Joan Promen, who was a horse-crazy kid that had a deep passion for horses from a young age. After years of bugging her parents for lessons and her own horse, Joan started her professional career as a barn assistant and hunt seat rider at Riverby Farms.

Her career flourished as she worked with renowned trainers such as George Morris, Frank and Mary Chapot, and Leslie Howard. Joan's journey led her to show Quarter Horse hunters and jumpers, winning many state honors. After a brief break from the horse business, Joan returned full-time by starting Colts Neck Equestrian Centre and later expanding to open Bookmark Farms in 2000.

The facility has since grown to cover 38 acres, offering top-notch training, boarding, lessons, and children's day camps. With a dedicated team and a passion for horses, Bookmark Farms continues to be a go-to destination for anyone seeking exceptional hunter jumper education and training
