Brainfoodbooks is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering a love for reading among children of all ages. Founded by local pediatrician Dr. Barbara Bean, Brainfoodbooks aims to provide new books to those who lack regular access to them.

Dr. Bean's passion for promoting literacy led her to raise and spend thousands of dollars over the years for this project until her retirement in 2019. In 2021, a fortuitous conversation with Calvin Crosby, co-owner of The King's English bookstore, led to a partnership with a shared goal of making books accessible to underserved communities throughout the state.

Together, Brainfoodbooks and The King's English work closely with educators and reading coaches to match each reader with the perfect book. Through generous donations and fundraising efforts, they have already been able to provide books to various schools and educational programs. By giving children the opportunity to discover the joy of reading, Brainfoodbooks aims to empower and inspire future generations.
