About

Description

Canmore Folk Music Festival is the longest running folk music festival in Alberta and is known for its exceptional lineup of folk, world, blues, and roots music. Since its inception in 1978, the festival has attracted a dedicated following of up to 21,000 music enthusiasts every year from southern Alberta, western Canada, the northwestern USA, and beyond. Held over three days during the Heritage Day long weekend in August, the festival showcases over 30 individual acts and performers on four stages.

The venue, Centennial Park in Canmore, offers a breathtaking backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, adding to the magical atmosphere. In addition to the incredible lineup of musicians, the festival features a free downtown concert on Friday evening, a dedicated kids' area filled with crafts, puppets, storytelling, and even a climbing wall. Visitors can also explore artisan handicraft booths and indulge in a diverse range of ethnic food options.

With a strong commitment to sustainability, the festival aims to be a family-friendly celebration of cultural heritage. It also strives to educate and promote folk music through school initiatives, community events, and supporting other organizations that share the same goals. Supporting folk artists and fostering a supportive community are integral to Canmore Folk Music Festival's mission.
