Description
CIRI, or Cook Inlet Region, Inc., is an Alaska Native corporation established in 1971 under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act. With over 9,100 shareholders primarily of Athabascan, Southeast Indian, Inupiat, Yup'ik, Alutiiq/Sugpiaq, and Aleut/Unangax descent, CIRI aims to promote the economic and social well-being of its shareholders while preserving Alaska Native heritage. CIRI offers a range of services and programs to its shareholders and descendants, including shareholder and descendant programs, distributions, forms, records and gifting, wills, estates, and probate resources and benefits.
They also provide support through the Qenek Shareholder Portal, where shareholders can connect with their heritage and preserve Alaska Native culture. Additionally, CIRI operates in various business segments, including energy and infrastructure, government services, real estate, and technology services. They are actively involved in the community, prioritize environmental and social governance, and have a diverse executive leadership team.
CIRI recently hosted a group of interns who gained valuable real-world work experience while immersing themselves in Alaska Native culture. They participated in cultural activities, attended workshops and museums, and even fished with educational programs. CIRI is committed to supporting and empowering the next generation of Alaska Native leaders through these opportunities
