Description
Welcome to the Clarke Historical Museum! As the largest museum in Humboldt County, we are dedicated to celebrating the rich and diverse history of Northwestern California. Our mission is to preserve, share, and interpret this history in ways that enrich the spirit, engage the mind, and stimulate the imagination. Our exhibits showcase a wide range of artifacts and materials that highlight the European settlement in Humboldt County, starting from the 1850s until the present day.
From textiles and weaponry to tools and household items, we provide a comprehensive look into the past. In addition to our general collection, we pride ourselves on our unparalleled Native American collection, which boasts a deep and extensive representation of tribes from Northwestern California. As a socially just museum, we are committed to educating the public about the history of our Native collections and promoting cultural awareness.
We are actively working to return stolen items and promote dialogue about the land we occupy. Visit the Clarke Historical Museum to explore the fascinating history of Northwestern California and gain a deeper understanding of the people and events that shaped it
