The Columbus Historical Society, founded in 1990, is a brand dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Columbus and Central Ohio. Comprising a group of passionate professional and amateur historians, our mission is to educate the citizenry and instill pride, love, and respect for our unique heritage. We work closely with local historical organizations to offer activities, events, preservation efforts, and publications to the community.

We provide a range of services, including outstanding free public programs, off-site exhibits, publications, elementary and adult education, and our popular summer bus tour series. We collect and curate artifacts that represent the stories of Columbus and Central Ohio, ensuring the preservation of our history for future generations. As part of our commitment to heritage tourism, we offer direct consumer and education services, promote events with other organizations, and operate a permanent exhibit space.
