The eatery gets its name from the original name of the community, Cottonwood Springs, which was an important stop on the old Spanish Trail. The restaurant is built within a piece of land that housed the village's workshop since 1942, and the interior prominently features wood from the original building. Cottonwood Station also pays homage to Blue Diamond's history with a history wall showcasing photos and information about the area.
