Community Resource Initiative (CRI) is a brand that serves as a collectively run investigation office and resource center. Our mission is to build narratives that challenge the death penalty and advocate for the value of human life. We work closely with families and communities impacted by the judicial system, fostering safety, growth, and resilience.

Our impact is multifaceted. In the courtroom, we use the legal process of mitigation to communicate to juries the significance of taking a person's life. Within the community, we provide tailored support to those affected by the judicial system.

We also strive to advance policy reform in the criminal legal system, with a particular focus on dismantling the death penalty. Founded in 2006, CRI continues to deliver vital services to clients, families, and capital defense teams. Our democratic, worker-run organization ensures shared power and maximizes staff agency, enabling us to effectively advocate for our clients and maintain our sustainability.
