CSSL, the Centre for Science of Student Learning, is a non-profit organization led by Fulbright alumni. Their mission is to build capacity for high-quality assessments and research into the science of student learning. In India, there is currently no institution that focuses on training for educational assessments and research into how children learn.

CSSL believes that the current educational system promotes rote learning by solely focusing on the number of children who pass exams and their scores, rather than what they have actually learned. To address this issue, CSSL aims to develop assessments that promote learning and provide rigorous data analysis for government institutions, schools, and teachers. They also conduct research to gain insights into how children learn, including intervention impact studies, exploring cognitive and affective learning, and psychometric research.

By enhancing educational assessments and understanding the science behind learning, CSSL is dedicated to improving the quality of education and ensuring that children learn effectively
