About
Description
Data. gov is the official open data website of the United States government. Its purpose is to provide public access to a wide range of datasets published by various federal agencies.
By doing so, Data. gov aims to achieve agency missions, foster innovation, drive economic activity, and uphold the principles of transparency and open government. Established in May 2009, Data.
gov was created in response to the Presidential Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government issued in January 2009. The website is a collaborative effort between the U. S.
General Services Administration (GSA), the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), and other agency partners. Through the Data. gov catalog, agencies compile metadata including titles, descriptions, keywords, and links.
This allows users to easily navigate and access the available datasets. Data. gov provides valuable resources for researchers, businesses, and the general public, empowering them to explore and analyze government data to gain insights, advance innovation, and contribute to the nation's progress
