Delhaize De Haan is a well-established brand that has been serving the community since 1910. It all began with Café de la Poste, a small café founded by Johannes Meesschaert and Louise Massijn, which also sold fruits and vegetables. Over the years, the business evolved and in 1936, it was renamed Chez Madeleine by Madeleine Meesschaert and Georges Samaey, adding a French touch to the brand.

Despite facing challenges during the difficult years of World War II, the business persevered and grew. In 1964, the two separate establishments of Madeleine Meesschaert and Madeleine Wouters merged into one, located in Stationsstraat 8 with a larger space. In 1996, Chez Madeleine entered into a partnership with Delhaize, a trusted name in the industry.

This marked the transition to self-service and the brand continues to thrive. Today, under new management since 2005, Chez Madeleine offers an enjoyable shopping experience with a clear focus on fresh products. The store was recently renovated and expanded, boasting a total area of 1500 square meters.
