About

Description

DFI, also known as the Disability Federation of Ireland, is a federation of member organisations dedicated to promoting the rights and equal participation of people with disabilities in Irish society. Their primary goal is to implement the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD). With a vision of an inclusive Ireland, DFI works collaboratively with its member organisations to advocate for policy changes and foster self-advocacy among individuals with disabilities.

By reconfiguring their structure and enhancing communication, DFI aims to support the sustainable and active involvement of member organisations in achieving the equal participation of people with disabilities in society. Through their strategic plan for 2022-2025, DFI aspires to contribute to policy implementation, empower member organisations, and promote the active engagement of individuals with disabilities within their communities. DFI works in partnership with various organizations, including the HSE, Pobal, the Dormant Accounts Fund, and the Department of Rural and Community Development
