Discover Your Northwest is a Seattle-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting the exploration of public lands in the Northwest. We are committed to enriching the visitor experience and fostering a sense of community stewardship for these special places, both now and for future generations. As partners with the National Park Service, US Forest Service, Bureau of Reclamation, US Army Corps of Engineers, City of Seattle Parks and Recreation, and Washington State Parks, we work collaboratively to achieve our mission.

At Discover Your Northwest, we operate on-site educational bookstores in urban and wilderness locations, offering visitors a wide range of high-quality books, educational products, maps, media, and more to enhance their understanding and appreciation of Northwest public lands. The revenue generated from our retail sales funds various visitor events, state-of-the-art displays, free publications, habitat cleanup and restoration, and programs for volunteers. Our retail activities also enable us to fundraise for important projects and administer grants and agreements that improve visitor experiences across the region.

Since our founding in 1974, we have grown to become a respected organization serving parks and forests throughout Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, and Montana. We generate approximately $1 million in educational funding for visitor programs annually. Whether you've purchased a map or trail guide at Mount Rainier National Park, Olympic National Park, Mount St Helens NVM, or another Northwest park or forest, chances are it came from us.

We are constantly engaged in new projects and initiatives. Currently, we are fundraising for the renovation of the Ballard Locks Fish Ladder Viewing Gallery, which serves the millions of annual visitors who come to witness Seattle's iconic returning salmon. We also support local efforts in Central Oregon's National Forests through our foundation building resources.
