EDC Romfor Ltd., short for Romani Foraj or Romanian Drilling Company, has a rich history that dates back to the nationalization of Romanian drilling contractors by the government before 1956. Originally part of a drilling trust, Romfor S. A.


During Romania's communist era, it boasted a workforce of 2,500 employees and operated 23 drilling rigs. Following the revolution in 1989, Romfor S. A.


In 1992, it became a public company and was listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange, with individual shareholders owning 25% of the shares and the Romanian government owning the remaining 75%. In 1998, the Romanian government sold its interest to Romfor International Ltd. In July 2012, Romfor International Ltd.
