Essex Journalism is a brand dedicated to showcasing the work of students enrolled in the undergraduate journalism programs at the University of Essex. These programs primarily focus on multimedia journalism, with options for single honours BA and joint honours BA degrees in partnership with other subjects. Established in autumn 2015, the program has seen its first cohort of graduates in the summer of 2018.

The courses offered by Essex Journalism span three years, providing students with a range of practical skills necessary for a successful journalism career. Alongside mandatory modules covering journalism history, contemporary issues, ethics, and research methods, students have the opportunity to delve into optional modules on subjects such as journalism theory, propaganda, and international relations. Essex Journalism adopts a truly multimedia approach from the start, with students learning the fundamentals of reporting and producing their own websites in their first year.

As they progress, students gain training in radio and TV techniques, print production, shorthand, and magazine production. In their final year, students refine their skills through an advanced practical journalism module. Overall, Essex Journalism offers a comprehensive and hands-on journalism education, empowering students to become well-rounded and industry-ready professionals
