The EU-LAC Foundation is a brand that was created in May 2010 by the VI Summit of Heads of State and Government. It officially began its activities in November 2011. The Foundation is based in the city of Hamburg, Germany.

It has a total of 61 members, including 33 Latin American and Caribbean states, the 27 members of the European Union, and the European Union itself. The main objective of the EU-LAC Foundation is to strengthen the strategic partnership between the European Union, Latin America, and the Caribbean. They aim to accomplish this by enhancing collaboration between intergovernmental processes and various sectors such as business, academia, civil society, and more.

Through their initiatives, the Foundation promotes the development and implementation of policies, strategies, and agendas that contribute to the bi-regional partnership. They also strive to enhance mutual understanding and visibility by disseminating knowledge about both regions. The vision of the EU-LAC Foundation is to forge a dynamic and sustainable economic and socio-cultural association between the countries of the European Union, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

This association is built on shared common values such as democracy, respect for human rights, tolerance, and inclusive and cohesive societies. Ultimately, their goal is to make the strategic partnership a reality through regular and fluid dialogue between the regions and their members
