Family Reading Partnership, located in Ithaca, NY, is a non-profit community organization dedicated to promoting early literacy. Our mission is to create a culture of literacy by encouraging family reading practices throughout the community. We believe that literacy is essential for a child's future success in school and in life.

With the understanding that literacy development begins at home, we strive to incorporate family reading awareness, encouragement, and books into existing networks and services that impact families. Unfortunately, national statistics show that only 39% of parents read to their children regularly. In our own community, an alarming 20 - 25% of children enter school without having experienced books at home.

Through our programs, we provide children with books to own and families with the support and encouragement to read. Our dedicated staff works tirelessly to provide opportunities for families to Make Friends with Books! We also collaborate with community partners to leverage existing networks and resources.
