Federation Bank is more than just a union of organizations; we are a union of communities. Serving Washington, Brighton, Richland, and Wellman, Iowa, we believe that Together We’re Strong. Our history dates back to 1906 when Rubio Savings Bank was established in Rubio, Iowa, to support the growth of the railroad town.

Despite the challenges of the Great Depression, we remained dedicated to serving our customers, exemplifying our commitment to integrity. In 1934, Washington Federal Savings and Loan Association was founded during the height of the Great Depression, providing financing for home ownership. Over time, we expanded our product offerings and became Washington Federal Savings Bank.

In 1998, we merged with Rubio Savings Bank, and later opened full-service branches in Wellman and Richland. Finally, in 2003, the merger was completed, and we became known as Federation Bank. With a focus on customer and shareholder relationships, our friendly and qualified staff provides a range of banking services to enhance shareholder value.
