Yosemite Search and Rescue is one of the busiest wilderness SAR services in the country, averaging over two hundred rescue missions every year. While government funding provides considerable support, many aspects of the response program rely on public donations. The funds raised by Friends of Yosemite Search and Rescue are used to cover training, human resources, equipment, infrastructure, visitor education, and research for safer and more effective rescue methods.
