Golix is a pioneering brand in the world of cryptocurrency exchanges. Established in Zimbabwe in 2014, Golix holds the distinction of being the first exchange of its kind in the country. With Zimbabwe's national currency grappling with hyperinflation and economic challenges, Golix stepped in to meet the growing demand for alternative currencies.

Its popularity soared as it allowed users to seamlessly buy and sell cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Litecoin using the Zimbabwean dollar, US dollar, and South African rand. Golix didn't stop there. It also offered a secure wallet service, enabling users to store their cryptocurrencies with peace of mind.

However, the brand encountered its fair share of obstacles along the way. Regulatory issues and operational difficulties posed significant challenges. In 2018, the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe barred banks from processing cryptocurrency transactions, leading to the cessation of Golix's operations in the country.

Undeterred, Golix sought to expand its reach to other African nations such as Uganda and South Africa. Unfortunately, the brand encountered further regulatory hurdles, ultimately opting to close its exchange in late 2019.
