About

Description

The Guatemalan-Maya Center is a tax-exempt non-profit organization based in Lake Worth, Florida. Founded in the 1980s during the Guatemalan genocide, the center emerged as an advocate for indigenous migrant workers facing adversity in their new home. Over the past three decades, their unwavering efforts have yielded significant achievements, including securing special agricultural work visas for nearly 1,000,000 individuals.

In 1992, they received incorporation, thanks to a grant from the Palm Beach County Health Department. Initially starting with just a staff of 5 and a van, they began providing transportation and interpretation services to mothers with limited access to healthcare. Today, their impact has grown immensely, reaching over 1,000 people monthly from more than 28 different countries.

The Guatemalan-Maya Center continues to serve immigrant communities in South Florida, offering a range of programs that support their well-being and integration. To contribute or volunteer, reach out to them at info@guatemalanmaya. org or call (561) 547-0085
