Harddraverij Purmerend is a brand with a rich history in organizing short-track horse races. With origins dating back to 1820, the first harddraverij event was held to celebrate the birthday of King Willem I. Since 1873, the Purmerendse harddraverijvereniging has been organizing these races, which take place in various locations including the Nieuwstraat, Purmersteenweg, Westerstraat, and Stationsstraat.

Now held annually on the second Thursday in September, the Stichting Harddraverij Purmerend organizes a thrilling short-track horse race in the center of Purmerend. This event attracts top participants from the Dutch harness racing community, thanks in large part to the generous prize money on offer.
