About
Description
Hub City Press is a renowned literary nonprofit organization based in Spartanburg, South Carolina. With a strong focus on education, outreach, and publishing, their mission is to cultivate readers and nurture writers while fostering an inclusive literary arts culture. Established in 1995 by three local writers, Hub City now consists of an acclaimed literary book publisher, an independent bookshop, and a literary programmer.
They publish 8-10 titles annually, with a special emphasis on debut writers, offering a diverse range of books that reinterpret, reimagine, and interrogate the modern and historical South. In addition to publishing, Hub City hosts an array of programs including an annual writers' conference, workshops, scholarships, residencies, and numerous readings. They also run a national fellowship program for mid-career writers and organize a book drive that provides 5,000 children's books to low-income local homes.
Hub City Bookshop, the nation's first non-profit operated full-service bookshop, serves as a literary hub for the community. With a dedicated team, Hub City has become a prominent literary arts organization, celebrating Southern voices and promoting a thriving literary community in Spartanburg and beyond
