About
Description
The Idaho Potato Commission is a state agency responsible for promoting and protecting the famous Grown in Idaho® seal, a federally registered trademark that guarantees consumers are purchasing authentic, high-quality Idaho® potatoes. Established in 1937, the Commission is funded through a tax on all Idaho-grown potatoes, currently set at 12. 5 cents per 100 pounds.
These funds are utilized to advertise, promote, and conduct research to expand the markets for Idaho-grown potatoes. Directed by nine commissioners, including growers, packers/shippers, and processors, the Commission celebrated 75 years of service in 2012. Idaho's exceptional growing conditions, such as rich volcanic soil, climate, and irrigation, set their potatoes apart from those grown in other states.
