The IKEA Foundation is a strategic philanthropy that aims to create a better future for children by addressing the two biggest threats to their well-being: poverty and climate change. With a focus on the most vulnerable parts of the world, the foundation works with over 140 partners to improve family incomes and protect the planet. By transforming systems and generating evidence-based approaches, they strive to make a lasting impact.

Originally founded by Ingvar Kamprad in 1982 with a focus on design and architecture, the foundation expanded its mission in 2009 to enable families to create a better future for themselves and combat climate change. Over the years, the foundation has granted over €1. 8 billion to its partners and now allocates approximately €200 million annually.

To accelerate the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, the foundation has committed an additional €1 billion over the next five years. Working in collaboration with partners across Africa and Asia, as well as supporting global climate action programs, the IKEA Foundation targets regions and countries where they can make the greatest impact
