KinVillage Association in Delta, BC has a rich history rooted in the commitment to serving seniors in the community. Founded in 1978 by a group of dedicated individuals from the local Kinsmen Club, KinVillage was established to provide seniors with housing and recreational facilities. The organization began as The Kinsmen Retirement Centre Association and worked closely with the government to develop plans for a community tailored to the needs of older adults.
Since its inception, KinVillage has continuously evolved and expanded its offerings. It started with the opening of the first residence in 1980 and the subsequent construction of three additional residential buildings. The Community Centre, which focuses on the well-being of older adults, was established in 1982.
Over the years, the facilities have undergone significant renovations to accommodate the changing needs of the South Delta community. Recognizing the growing number of seniors in Canada, KinVillage has also expanded its outreach programs. These include the Day Program for Older Adults and partnerships with various agencies, such as Meals on Wheels, health clinics, and support groups.
This commitment to supporting older adults extends beyond the KinVillage community to the broader Delta area. As the faces of the residents have changed over time, with the average age steadily increasing, KinVillage remains dedicated to providing high-quality service in a caring and vibrant community. Through its services and programs, KinVillage strives to help seniors live actively, stay connected, and thrive at all stages of aging.
