Kujenga Family is a community organization dedicated to supporting Black community members, families, parents, and youth. Our core project management team consists of professionals who are also single parents, sole income earners of their households, and have previous experience as foster caregivers. We are deeply connected with the child welfare system and the criminal justice system.

We understand the challenges that Black youth face, such as longer stays in the child welfare system and higher rates of involvement in the criminal justice system. In the education system, Black youth often face difficulties, including lower graduation rates, a lack of representation among teachers, and increased likelihood of behavioral difficulties and expulsions. As parents ourselves, we recognize the importance of appropriate parenting tools and strategies.

Unfortunately, we have experienced biases, discrimination, and anti-Black racism that have created additional stress and systemic barriers for us. With the goal of promoting healthier families, Kujenga Family offers a range of services, including a navigation line, online resources library, wellness fair, educational workshops, supportive groups, counseling, and outreach programs. Our strategies address conflict within families and provide access to mental health resources for community members' success and positive outcomes.
