About

Description

Welcome to Madison Conservation District (MCD), where we are dedicated to conserving the natural resources of the state. As a local organization, our mission is to fulfill the state's policy by preserving soil, water, and more. We cover all areas within voting precincts 15 and 20.

With funding from a Madison County mill levy, MCD operates with a board of supervisors who are deeply committed to the health of the land and region's resources. We secure project and program funding through grants, which is then combined with county funds to support ongoing activities. Our work encompasses various critical areas.

We implement the Natural Streambed and Land Preservation Act, requiring permits for working in or near perennial streams. Additionally, we are responsible for controlling nonpoint source pollution through our 310 Permit process. Furthermore, MCD actively participates in watershed planning, aiming to enhance resource management and planning efforts on private, county, state, and federal land.

Education is also a key component of our mission, as we engage with people of all ages to promote conservation awareness. Join us in our efforts to protect and preserve the natural beauty of Madison County
