Description

Mikooka Projects is a New York-based production company founded by Mika Orr, an award-winning filmmaker specializing in both fiction and documentary projects. With a focus on identity, migration, fantasy, and intercultural convergence, Mikooka Projects delivers compelling narratives that captivate and inspire. From an early start, Orr's passion for filmmaking flourished, directing her first film at the age of 15 and pursuing an independent directing career when she turned 18.

As the lead cinematographer, Orr worked on acclaimed feature documentaries like Chronicle of a Kidnap and Stains, showcasing her expertise in capturing powerful stories. Mikooka Projects has been involved in a wide range of productions, including branded content videos for renowned clients like Google Israel, Coca Cola, and the European Union. Orr has also directed documentaries and educational films for prestigious institutions such as Yad Vashem and The Israeli Museum.

Furthermore, she has created captivating music and dance videos for influential artists like Marina Maximilian, 2CELLOS, and Nouvelle Vogue. With a master's degree from the School of Visual Arts in New York, Orr's talent has been recognized at international film festivals, with her works receiving numerous accolades. Her films have been officially selected for over 35 festivals and have won a total of nine awards.

Recently, Mikooka Projects released the successful short drama film DUET, which has screened at over 25 festivals and garnered eight awards. Another notable project is the documentary/animation comedic web series called #AMiNORMAL, produced in collaboration with the French/German television channel ARTE and the Israeli public broadcaster Kan. This series, which premiered at IDFA, explores the human quest to define normal.

Currently, Orr is immersed in her first feature-length documentary film, which follows the lives of three displaced children worldwide. With a unique perspective solely from the children's point of view, this emotional journey will be filmed over two years in Uganda, Colombia, and Germany.
