Moderný obchod, represented by Slovenská aliancia moderného obchodu (SAMO), is the leading and most influential association of modern commerce in Slovakia. Established in 2014, SAMO was formed by 5 significant representatives in the retail sector, with additional companies gradually joining as well. SAMO's member companies provide employment to over 30,000 people throughout Slovakia and indirectly support hundreds of thousands more in the supply chain sectors such as farming, food producers, technology suppliers, logistics and security services, and other businesses.

The primary purpose of SAMO is to protect the interests of its members and advocate for the development of modern commerce in Slovakia. Their core values include safeguarding and promoting the interests of modern commerce, upholding formal and informal (ethical) rules of trade, influencing relevant political, economic, social, and environmental issues, and elevating the reputation of commerce in societal discussions. SAMO operates approximately 800 retail and 6 wholesale establishments, employs over 30,000 individuals, and has made investments exceeding €4 billion in Slovakia.
