About
Description
Mt. Sanford Tribal Consortium (MSTC) is a tribal consortium that was established in 1992 to protect and advance the interests of the Upper Ahtna indigenous people. As the Taa'tl'aa Denaรฉ (Headwater People), MSTC's culture is deeply rooted in tradition, family, and cooperation, guided by unwritten Indian laws and values.
Located in Chistochina, Alaska, MSTC serves as a vital community hub, offering a range of services and resources to its residents. They provide health services, including acute and chronic care, through their clinics staffed by dedicated Community Health Aides and a Nurse Practitioner. MSTC is also committed to preserving and teaching the Ahtna language.
Their MSTC Ahtna Language Series is the first new classroom-based language material published since 1975, providing an opportunity for individuals to study and learn this important indigenous language. Overall, MSTC is dedicated to being a place of healing for their people, supporting their community, and preserving their cultural heritage for future generations
