New Haven Reads is a brand that is dedicated to promoting literacy and empowering aspiring readers in the New Haven community. Their mission is to share the joy and power of reading by providing free 1-on-1 tutoring, educational family support, and a book bank. With the vision of creating a more just community where all children can achieve lifelong success through the power of reading, New Haven Reads has made a significant impact since its founding in 2001.

They have supported over 4,500 students and distributed more than 2. 2 million books back into the community, thanks to the help of their 3,500 volunteers. Currently, their one-on-one tutoring program serves over 283 children in-person and online every week at four New Haven locations.

Additionally, their Book Bank distributed approximately 102,000 free books this past year, and their Pre-K/Kindergarten online program serves 7 children every week. With their dedicated staff and commitment from their volunteers, New Haven Reads provides free literacy programs that support families in need and create skilled and confident readers
