The National League for Nursing (NLN) is the nation's first nursing association and serves as the leading voice for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education. Founded in 1893, the NLN offers a wide range of professional development opportunities and networking events for its nearly 45,000 individual and over 1,000 institutional members. They provide assessment services, nursing research grants, and public policy advocacy to promote excellence in nursing.

NLN members come from nursing education programs across higher education, healthcare organizations, and agencies. As a member of the Tri-Council for Nursing, the NLN collaborates with other nursing organizations to provide leadership in education, practice, and research. They are also a founding member of the Nurses on Boards Coalition, working to increase nurses' presence and influence on various boards and commissions.
