NorCal GSP Rescue is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming German Shorthaired Pointers (GSP) in Northern California. Our mission is to ensure that every GSP in the region finds a loving forever home. We accomplish this by providing comprehensive veterinary and behavioral care to each rescue dog, which includes spaying/neutering, vaccinations, heartworm tests and preventative treatment, and any other necessary medical or behavioral support.

As a foster-based rescue, we take in adoptable dogs from local shelters and provide them with temporary homes where they can receive much-needed love, shelter, and medical attention. This allows them to transition from shelter life to their new, permanent homes. We prioritize rescuing dogs from animal shelters, particularly those at risk of euthanasia.

At NorCal GSP Rescue, we are committed to positive reinforcement training and promote a force-free training philosophy. We also educate the public about the breed's special requirements to ensure informed decision-making when adopting a GSP. We find suitable homes for our rescue dogs through our website, pet adoption sites, social media outreach, and adoption events.

We assess each dog's personality, temperament, and training needs to ensure the best match between the dog and the individual or family adopting them. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funded by donations, fundraisers, and adoption fees. Donations to NorCal GSP Rescue are fully tax-deductible.

We operate solely with the aim of rescuing and rehoming German Shorthaired Pointers, and none of our officers or board members receive any payment for their services.
