Nvhd, also known as the Naugatuck Valley Health District, is the trusted local public health organization serving the towns of Ansonia, Beacon Falls, Derby, Naugatuck, Seymour, and Shelton. Established in 1972, NVHD achieved national public health accreditation in 2015 and currently serves a population of approximately 126,201 residents. At NVHD, their mission is to enhance the quality of life for the community by promoting health, preventing diseases, and ensuring a safe and clean environment.

With three main divisions - Environmental Health, Community Health, and Administration - they offer a range of comprehensive services. The Environmental Health Division focuses on preventing illness, disability, and death caused by environmental factors. Their team of sanitarians conducts health inspections, resolves health hazard complaints, and provides public education.

Alongside state and federal agencies, NVHD enforces health regulations and responds to emergencies 24/7. The Community Health Division is responsible for investigating infectious diseases and provides preventive health programs, promoting a healthier life for all residents.
