About

Description

The Native Women's Resource Centre of Toronto (NWRCT) is a registered charity dedicated to supporting Indigenous women and their families in the Greater Toronto Area. With a rich history dating back to 1985, NWRCT provides a safe and welcoming environment where Indigenous women can share resources, support one another, and connect with their traditions. NWRCT offers a wide range of programs and services that address various needs.

These include Basic Needs, Housing, Families, Advocacy, Employment, Education, Healing from Trauma, and access to Ceremonies and Traditional Practitioners/Healers. By offering wrap-around blanket services, NWRCT aims to build confidence, capacity, and self-sufficiency within the collective community. In addition to its core services, NWRCT hosts various Cultural Activities open to clients and the public.

These activities, such as the Minaake Awards, Sisters In Spirit Vigil, and Winter Solstice, provide opportunities for cultural celebration and connection. As a registered charity, NWRCT is funded by government programs and public/private donations. By honouring the vision of its founders, NWRCT continues to empower urban Indigenous women and children, foster positive change, and promote healing and wellness within the community.
