Formerly known as the Alcohol & Substance Abuse Council of Jefferson County, Inc., Pivot offers a wide range of services and programs for individuals, families, co-workers, schools, and the community. Their mission is to reduce the prevalence of substance abuse and problem gambling in Jefferson County, while also delaying the first use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs, and gambling behavior among youth for as long as possible. Pivot aims to decrease the negative consequences and costs associated with substance abuse and problem gambling through early identification, brief intervention, and referral.

The organization collaborates with the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS) to achieve these goals. Pivot's journey began many years ago when a group of concerned Jefferson County citizens attended a talk by Margaret Marty Mann, who spoke about the importance of spreading the message of help and recovery for alcoholics. Inspired by her words, the group formed the Jefferson County Committee on Alcoholism, which later evolved into Pivot.

Today, Pivot continues to fulfill its initial objectives of raising awareness, providing education, and reducing the stigma associated with alcoholism and other substance abuse disorders
