Welcome to the Ploughcroft Tea Room, Lynchburg's only authentic English Tea Room. Owned by Patricia Hutto, our tea room is poised to be a must-do in the historic downtown area. Experience authentic British cuisine, sip on hot tea with friends, or explore our gift shoppe for items that will transport you to the olde country.

With seating for up to 30 people, our tea room is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. On Sundays, we're closed for regular dining but available for private parties. Inspired by her childhood in Norfolk, England, Patricia Hutto founded the Ploughcroft Tea Room.

She admired the Blue Ridge mountains and longed for an authentic British tea room experience. After opening her first tea room in Virginia Beach, she ultimately moved to Lynchburg in the early 90s to fulfill her dream. At Ploughcroft Tea Room, we offer two types of tea ceremonies.

Afternoon Tea, famously started by the Duchess of Bedford in the mid-1800s, features delicate sandwiches, scones, pastries, and preserves. High Tea, served in the evening, provides a full dinner meal, including meats, fish, eggs, cheese, bread, butter, and cake.
