PODS (Parents Opening Doors) is a parent carer/peer led charity that provides support to families who have a child with a disability or additional needs. Established in 2008 as part of the Aiming High for Disabled Children Strategy, PODS is now an independent organization supported by a team of staff and volunteers who have firsthand experience with these challenges. Their main aim is to ensure that the voice of parent carers is heard and that their needs are met by professionals in children’s services.

PODS offers a range of services, including family groups, emotional and practical support through their Face2Face scheme, workshops and events, and family representation in local and national meetings. They also provide relevant information through various channels, such as information events, e-bulletins, and social media platforms. PODS works in partnership with different organizations to improve services for families with disabled children and is a member of the National Network of Parent Carer Forums.
