Prison Opticians is a unique brand dedicated to reducing re-offending and transforming the lives of prisoners through optical training and employment opportunities. Our mission is to provide vocational training and jobs within the optical sector to help prisoners reform and rehabilitate. By turning prisoners into professionals, we empower them to create life-changing products that positively impact the community.

In our first four years, we have successfully helped over 40 prisoners secure employment and have trained them in essential optical skills. We offer a range of prison optometry services, including producing clinical guidelines and developing emergency eye care technology. Our work has not only improved prison optician services but also contributed to the reduction of re-offending rates.

Founded by Optometrist Tanjit Dosanjh, Prison Opticians was inspired by the success of an optical program in California prisons. Our brand is dedicated to providing prisoners with the necessary skills and opportunities to pursue a career in the optical industry, with some former prisoners even setting up their own optical businesses.
